“We waited for days, but no sign of hope…”, consists of an army-supply parachute stuck between a wall of sand-filled nylon bags. The work also includes an audio soundtrack of winds, which contrasts with the intimidating barricade, often used as an immobile fence to protect soldiers from a possible enemy.
The audio track is compiled, from a collection of various wind sounds recorded by the artist while researching the Nubra Valley in Ladakh. The wind, which would otherwise navigate a parachute to great distances, no longer serves this purpose. The white parachute that symbolized hope and carried supplies to sustain soldiers, is now left abandoned and motionless in between an austere wall of sandbags.
